Hempstead, NY-based rapper TOP NINJA (aka Leon Bodden), known best for his 2019 single ‘A1’, is back with a banging Afro-drill hip-hop track called ‘TOPPEST NINJAS’. He formed a rap association called NINJAS WORLDWIDE a few years ago and has been putting out hard-hitting drill music ever since. His latest release showcases his high-spirited raspy voice over drill beats and basses, along with a verse by rapper KING CONNECTOR.
The track begins with an emotional piano melody supported by a bright and slightly distorted pad that creates a somewhat dramatic atmosphere initially. TOP NINJA’s vocals are accompanied by a loud beat, very grime-like, while the drill hi-hats carry the groove throughout the almost five-minute track. His unique delivery style highlights his vocals here. It’s one of those songs where everything seems to just fall in place – the beat, the flow of the verses and the addictive melody. The deep basses add an additional element of weight to the track, which enhances the rappers’ performances even more!
A tight performance paired with an intricately produced beat makes this one of those songs that stand out from the music out there nowadays. Drill music’s dark and somewhat violent nature makes it a unique genre that isn’t fundamental trap or hip-hop, but a hard-hitting combination of both. With TOP NINJA’s energetic vocals and KING CONNECTOR’s gritty tone, we don’t think you’d want to miss this one!
