Before I begin, it is important to mention that I don’t listen to this genre much. Vishal Naidu however, is able to script tales that transcend language, all through the power of music. His music is a Rorschach test, spinning visuals in your mind after easing you into a place of stillness and meditative bliss. You might have heard his singles, but now prepare yourself for the full movie. This is his 3rd full length album, Aeons in Stillness.
Once played, you’re transmitted into a bubble of paradise. Beware, all might not be utopian in this place. There are elements of reality scattered throughout-as figments of imagination. His opening single is called Breathing Trail. It is the lively path that will take you to this ethos. An amalgam of strings and strings-it is a state of flow that expresses his journey in a few words. The irony? He doesn’t use any.

From his first album, he has traversed a lot of elements in sound. From electric musings in his first album to embracing the expressive aura of acoustic neo-dark folk, Vishal Naidu is paving his own way. It exists throughout nature, globally-rather than belonging to any place. The feeling, not the moment.
An exotic place to travel to
Perhaps this is what is the most difficult to achieve. It is visualising feelings, of places that he might have never visited. Like the track Aurora , where ambient elements bring the tune to life. Beyond the melody is where he expresses the desire to go. Progressions that I might never be able to name, but they carry the weight of many desires.
Mountains of Solace is another exotic number. It is able to capture the immense volume of the scenario. I mean this space wise, the image of what is situated and how. He adds the playful nature of piano accents in his song to make something natural, and inspired. With Dan Caine, Catharsis was released as a single earlier-making for a song that is melancholic, yet somehow inspiring. It builds quickly-for a cascade that will bring you goosebumps.
Throes of experimentation
It is songs like Gallops In The Mist that are a whole new essence and thematic play for Vishal Naidu. Leaving the natural slides of the fretboard are a reminder. A reminder that someone with a beating heart yearns through music to be understood. A track that will stand to become timeless, for the kind of melody it stands to become.
Warg and Beautiful Death make their presence felt in the songs as well. These are collaborations through a frequency of genre-and appreciation. You might arrive at Reveries In Grey in a heartbeat. A natural pace of your pulse. Here you listen to an epic that caps off the experience he designed as a snippet of time. It is a visual through a marvellous limbo, something you’ll be proud to have experienced. Thank whatever power you believe in, that there is music like this to absorb. No dramatic flurry-just the artistry of expression. Aeons of Stillness for your perusal, here:
