Recently, The New Citizen Kane released a stunning electronic pop album called ‘TEMPLE. BEACH. DISCO. DADDY’. The album is infused with some remarkable pop excellence through contemporary electronic motifs and vivid musicality. Featuring some thoroughly enjoyable electronic tracks, the album thrives on exquisite beats, soulful synth, pleasant tunes, and a unique pop charm. 1. What is the inspiration behind your latest album- ‘TEMPLE. BEACH. DISCO. DADDY’? Share some insights on your creative process while crafting this sonically rich album?
I had been working on an acoustic version of Forget The World to include on the single release, and it kept conjuring images of a remote tropical beach in my mind: serene, barefoot, crystaline waters, mid-afternoon, sat with friends singing these soft breezy songs together with just a guitar & bongos, drinking cocktails, laughing carefree. I decided that instead of a Pt.2 for Forget The World, and instead of earlier thoughts of a true house-leaning remix album, I wanted to create the soundtrack to this scene replaying in my mind.
So Forget The World (Temple Beach Version) became the blueprint for the album and it’s no coincidence that it’s the album opener; a remix album by name only as I would present new versions of the songs from The Tales Of Morpheus, but completely new, re-recorded, created with this intention in mind rather than just a collection of nice remixes of the existing versions. This was important in order to convey the carefree mood I envisioned in the essence of the songs.
2. As a musician and artist, which part of song creation or compilation do you find the most difficult and why?
It can vary a lot by project, in general, I would say the step in the process that challenges me the most and where I’m still learning & improving is in mixing, it also takes away the most of my time as I singularly step in the end-to-end process. Writing & creating songs come so naturally to me, so it’s more the post-production and admin tasks that I find harder to stay on top of.

3. Do you believe in “art for art’s sake” or does your music have a deep purpose?
I think both can be true, and both have a place in the world. Not every listener out there wants to pay attention every time they hear a song, trying to figure out the deeper meaning. Active listening can be a tiring task. Sometimes we just want to play some music & switch off, drift away. It’s needed. But why can’t the same piece of music be both those things? I believe it can, and that’s what I try to create… Songs that are enjoyable and work in transmitting a certain mood or essence, with lyrics that can challenge or question our own thoughts and experiences, for those who look for the greater meaning.
4. What do you want your listeners to take from this album? Please share with us some thoughts behind creating this artistically immersive album.
I want listeners to take what they need from the album. From my POV as the creator, I wanted to create a soundtrack to that magical sundown hour at the beach, that was equally soothing as it was exciting. I wanted to convey a certain naivety reminiscent of late 60s / early 70’s rock’n’roll and pop, along with the sensuality of the early disco and late psychedelic eras. These were moments of societal rebirth, and the album is paying homage to that, an escape to simpler times, while things around us seem so crazy right now. Towards the end of the album, we start to veer into more synth-led 80’s inspired sounds,
5. Which song on the album is your personal favourite?
Ratbag Joy (Temple Beach Version)… Plot Twist – It’s actually a prelude to the main version, which comes out in July, as a single from the next album “Psychedelika”. The melody & the rhythm are so bouncy & carefree, sonically it’s a really uplifting song, but when you listen to the lyrics, it’s actually a tale of excess, self-deception & escape from one’s problems & real life through narcotics and carnal pleasures. I love a good juxtaposition!!
6. How has your musical journey been so far? Has music been a rewarding pursuit for you?
It’s been a long & bumpy journey that spans over 20 years, but looking at this last year, I can say it’s the first time I’ve made the music that truly reflects me as a person, without outside influence, whether active or through my own insecurities. It’s been rewarding to discover this new streaming landscape and have that global access to listeners, to adapt my beliefs & thinking to the current reality while trusting my art and seeing it resonate more than it ever did in the past with a much wider audience. It’s been rewarding to rediscover the storyteller in me, and to have evolved my arsenal to include the visual manifestation of my music through music videos & artwork. It’s been rewarding to rediscover the joy that creating music brings me. This album is a celebration of all that, and it is also a bridge between the “Morpheus” project, which was in a sense my rebirth as an artist, and “Psychedelika”, my next project, which will be even more sensorial as I feel fully empowered on my journey.
