Singer-songwriter Kete Bowers sings of a tale with his acoustic masterpiece, “BlackWater”

Kete Bowers comes off as a contemporary Johnny Cash. The musician from Liverpool has a rich history of music to build his raft off of, and he does so with class. The melodies he constructs range from country to bluesy explorations and folk. His latest single is a reminder that poets, need no renaissance. Here he sings from the shadows, this is BlackWater.

The haunting ambience manages to set a scene almost instantly. Strings echo, as the lone character walking down this long dark road. The sounds are soft, inviting and definitely mysterious. Though it is a popular progression, Kete Bowers sprinkles enough fairy dust on it to make it seem like a whole other tale. For the first 50 seconds, you’re a part of the ripple, the instrumental arrangement alone. His baritone voice arrives soon after, speaking in a sombre reality. Lyrics will haunt and hurt you for how real they are. When you hear the phrase “there’s something in the water in ______”, you can often put Liverpool in that category. Something in the flowing waters that gets the best musicians out of the place. We are fortunate enough to listen to his aching melody in this single, BlackWater.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
