To those unacquainted, Bhoopali is a raaga in Hindustani music. Sahana Naresh uses a traditional approach to create a streaming, moody melody. You might wonder if you’re in Norah Jones parallel dreams in some places. The percussion is soft, her work on tonality especially in this song is perfectly. From the last time I listened to her music, she has exponentially improved the production to suit her own stylish voice. There are statements even her vocal choices make. Like Sid Sriram’s indie work, the Carnatic and Hindustani elements shine with pride. There is a pastel overlap of many of these tones, and only a musician as talented as Sahana Naresh could pull it off so effortlessly. There is a certain magic she carries in her compositions, which become more apparent with every track she produces and makes.
