Sadistic Impalement deliver hellish brutal metal with “Screams of the Abyss”

Sadistic Impalement are delivering the best of old school with the tech of the modern. This is the way brutal death metal should be experienced-a nod to the greats while having a flavour that dominates the atmosphere. The 5-piece band from Nürnberg, Germany have released explosive numbers from 2022, when they formed. Founded by vocalist Ezekiel From Hell and guitarist Theo Skretas, they have devised something truly vicious and inspiring. This is their debut album, Screams of the Abyss

It is evident they have taken an express elevator to the depths of purgatory. After an ambient swell, it is deathly riff after riff and blast beats that are delivered. Cordoba instantly shows what this whole band has kept under their belt-thriving tones and a truly terrifying sound with neurotic precision. Sadistic Impalement don’t take a moment to reverse into silence, yet create it within the hollow spaces of fear when you listen to their music.

What makes them interesting is the choice of grooves. They don’t depend on only exasperating blast beats, but truly capture how music should move within this genre. When you’re organically moving into Colony, there is a rich image they are able to give with just instrumental prowess. Screams of the Abyss is packed with incredible riffs, and the kind of energy you want to feel from a death metal band.

Satanic Rituals is able to grasp the ceremony through the music very well. One of the most brutal riffs comes in at the 0:53 second onwards of this track. Not only is it dense and powerful, it can incite the entire experience just through the rhythm and vocal section. Sadistic Impalement power a new movement that honours the old-and they keep the themes that deliver. The first album has just 8 songs, and they keep it snappy. No long ambiences, just crisp and fierce performances. I enjoyed the theme of the Echoes of War-something that reflects the current state while stating what runs in the conscience.

What sets the band apart is the chemistry they have formed. In 3 short years not only have they given us songs that aren’t typical blueprints of the genre but push for more. The tracks aren’t trying hard to make statements bigger than themselves. The 5-piece band is here to crack open the floor of hell and take a peek, even a round within.

Production quality also ensures the talents of each member shines through the way it is supposed to. When I reached the closing of the album with Pain and Despair-my neck was sore from headbanging. I could sing many of the riffs, and my arms twitched thanks to air drumming. Not only does Sadistic Impalement bring mythic level of inspiration, but deliver it equally as hard:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
