The House Flies are bringing a renaissance through their own unique lens. The band is known for creating incredible, rich atmospheres with their compositions. Releasing a couple of singles to heightened indie acclaim, they are back with their full album called The Mannequin Deposit. I’m checking out Twilight Eyes, a single from the album.

Hypnosis by tone
The hypnotising chord progression creates a backdraught for the kind of aura we want to feel. This progresses for a minute, where you can actually feel the psychedelic waves tantalise you. It is perhaps the repetitive nature, the doctored tone and creative outlook with which this has such a profound effect. The seconds in guitar come to a welcome canvas, reaching the higher registers to paint a new picture. The lyrics come as part whisper, part narrative, and are very strong. Studying the layers in this convoluted mystery of a song is what makes it so enriching. It feels like a Thom Yorke side project, yet has The House Flies signature with compositions. Mannequin Deposit is full of songs like this that entertain you with story and atmosphere.

You can listen to The House Flies below with their single and check out the album as well. Hounds and Marrow are some of my recommendations, but listening to it in order really adds to the charm. You can also follow them on their Instagram for more and keep up to date with their music and tours. Listen to the song here:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
