“Reclaim Your Power”: The Uplifting Soul-pop Sound of Madam Who?

Madam Who? emerged in 2019, born from the depths of Audra’s struggle. Following a harrowing incident where she fought to save her daughter from a powerful rip tide and found herself at her lowest point, Audra’s musical journey took a transformative turn. She channelled her experiences into composing uplifting and empowering songs like “Reclaim Your Power,” “You Are Not Alone,” and “I Am Enough.” Through this creative process, she slowly began to heal and regain her strength. I pick “Reclaim Your Power” to talk about today– and here are my thoughts:

Come the first second of this song hither, and you’re immediately subjected to upliftment and motivation, with the blend of pop, soft rock and rap immediately making themselves heard as a distinctive theme that will follow through the runtime of this song. As we step into the hook, we’re welcomed by positive, self-affirming messages that are sure to make your day better.

The vocals have a big part in the execution of this song, and it shows: with the smart harmonies and technique variations found aplenty in the song, they pack a powerful punch– especially with the proud, ringing chords in the chorus and the array of claps used as percussive elements. Great job, really!

The production also incorporates some clever techniques like the vocoder, as well as a prominent bass tone that lays down the rhythm and groove for “Reclaim Your Power” quite elegantly. Mix that (I apologise for my pun) with the fundamentally solid and potent master, and you have a very well-rounded track on your hands.

“Reclaim Your Power” by Madam Who?, is a powerhouse of positivity, with the technical mastery to propel itself into your playlists this week. Check out the song here:
