Questions Unanswered is the debut Album released by Australian Band Remit in early July this year. This futuristic krautrock-inspired dark-rock band, Remit, is a legit representation of the dystopian state of today’s world. Questions Unanswered is the band’s first major congregation of their interpretation of the chaos and cacotopia. Remit’s sound is raw, bursting through the seams of conventional rock, mirroring the disillusionment and rage of the current times. The songs in the album, Questions Unanswered, circle around the theme of revenge rock against the rose-tinted goggles-wearing society and its puppeteers, while circling back to self-empowerment.
Are You Compliant opens the album with questions that the voice of conscience will ask in these rogue times. The track runs over six minutes with an accusative tone, building heavy blocks of emotional and moral queries. The lyrics are intense, and Jordan, on the vocals, tantalises the listeners, making them ponder their societal roles. “Are you compliant. Do you do what they say, or are you looking for the incendiary way?”

Debunker paints a surreal scene of the situation of youth in today’s world. The reality manipulation with the internet, the drugs, and the alcohol. The shift of idealism into darker realms due to the lack of a leader, and thus the uncertainty of a stable future. The song questions these dire situations and hopes that its song will be the debunker.
Hills are shaking has its very own ancient Nordic element both in the lyrics and as well as in the sound. The song leaves a trepidation in the air of things that could happen with lyrics that say, “Sometimes you must do what them gods tell you to do.” Good Friends, another over six-minute piece, is a distinctively different track on the list. There are layers of emotions that explore the mind, traversing the dark night of the soul, and also discuss the promises and hope at the end of the tunnel.

The album is that of the metamorphosis, the rising of the phoenix from its ashes, the win over the shadows of one’s own life. After the cry from Take this pain away, the path enlightens to My Transformation, a pivotal shift in the album’s arc.
We Are Wanderers is a reclaimation from the stringent, claustrophobic capitalistic structure. It delves into a future that can very well bring back the ancient ways of living. Like living in a harmonious state with Nature and in communities. The last song transitions into a concept called Posthuman, where humans are in a state of transformation.
Remit’s sound emerges from a rich blend of influences shared by its three members. Jordan (bass/vocals), Sim (guitar), and Rob (drums). Gathering weekly in a concrete bunker below ground, they delve into krautrock, post-punk, funk, and the weight of everyday life, shaping a sound that’s both futuristic and dystopian.
