Horizonte Lied Creates a Brooding Yet Forward-Looking Experience in Their New Alt-Rock EP “Nuevos Horizontes [Remastered Edition]”

Horizonte Lied is an electro-alternative band built on contrast. Their sound blends dark electronic textures with organic musical elements, creating fusions that feel both mechanical and alive at the same time. The project was founded in June 1992 by Alex Ezert (production and vocals) and Bernardo Garza (synths and percussion), with major inspiration drawn from bands like Depeche Mode and Clan of Xymox.

Horizonte Lied is back with a new EP, “Nuevos Horizontes [Remastered Edition]”. The EP opens almost like it’s sneaking up on you rather than announcing itself. “El Día Después” doesn’t hit with instant momentum. It creeps in. It’s atmospheric in a way that feels physical, like fog you can almost touch. The vocals drift inside the reverb and echo, overlapping each other until the whole track starts to feel like one long shadow.

“Punto Crucial” is where the EP makes its clearest statement. The beats hit harder, the synth movement feels bolder, and the track moves with real forward energy. But what keeps it from feeling like a random jump in intensity is how patiently the percussion builds. When it finally does land, it feels earned. And even with all that darkness around it, there’s this unexpectedly hopeful emotional undercurrent, like the track is confronting something heavy and still finding a way to keep going.

Closing with “Romper Una Era” is a smart move. Instead of carrying the momentum out the door, it steps back completely. The track slips toward ambient territory. Less drive, more drifting. Percussion fades away, and the atmospherics spread out until it feels more like a quiet space you’re walking through than a song that’s trying to convince you of anything. Like something old was pulled up, dusted off, and re-examined. It doesn’t resolve cleanly. It just leaves the door open, which fits the whole EP’s vibe of looking outward instead of closing the chapter.
