Tallahassee, Florida based band of Southern misfits Once Great Estate has released a stunning new single with their latest release Austin. Once Great Estate is influenced by the history and natural beauty of the North Florida woods and waterways. With the release of their brand-new tune “Austin“, they add a shining new gem to the progressing genre rooted in the soil.
The bands was formed when singer-songwriter-guitarist Tracy Horenbein solicited the aid of four other multi-instrumentalists in 2018. Soon after, guitarist-mandolinist F. Matthew Burns, guitarist-fiddler Christopher Ash, drummer Steve Burke, and bassist Jeffrey Chagnon joined. Despite the fact that two of the members wound up being from New York and Wyoming, the members’ diverse musical roots blended together to make some stunning southern rock music.
The song is an ode to the city of Austin in Texas. It is a city that successfully balanced the old with the new, generating powerful energy that is seen in the music, food, and art. Tracy Horenbein seeing this rich culture and especially the rescued horses at Willie Nelson’s Luck Ranch, was inspired to pen this ballad. Tracy Horenbein has used Austin’s beauty and musical legends for this avant-garde tune for Once Great Estate. This song captures the spirit of Texas as seen through an indie folk lens, complete with horses, raw guitar, and a tribute to Willie Nelson’s Luck Ranch.
Once Great Estate consistently perform throughout the Southeast and have one album, an EP, and five singles to their credit. Their albums have earned high praise from critics; one called the group’s Americana style “cinematic Southern rock.” Even though they are often a five-piece electric band, they occasionally play smaller, more private venues with acoustic music. Whether the music is loud or traditional, each performance showcases musicianship and heartfelt songwriting. With Austin, Once Great Estate continues to cement their position as a fiery blazing band in southern rock.
