Joe Traxler has brewed up quite a storm in such a short while. From his 2016 EP Forty Four, he’s become a wildly acclaimed pop-rock and alternative artist. With several singles all through 2021, Joe Traxler is back with his single Forget How To Speak. I for one, empathize.
The pandemic has been nothing less than a clogged toilet in a packed bar. Forgetting how to communicate was a problem all of us faced, except liars. Now let’s get into the melody. Joe Traxler really knows how to write one. Add that with some catchy lyrics, and the Gorillaz and Arctic Monkeys might have to watch out. He has the synths layered with his guitar tone. Being a multi-instrumentalist must be a huge advantage looking at how effortlessly he composes his tracks.
The arrangement is a mystery as a regular listener. It follows the balance between a lot of the pop hits by following the chord whoop, however adds several alternative layers to it. Obscure layers, so if you’ve been following pop and rock music history you might keep up. His other release this year was Don’t Dance, performed in Vienna. Being able to host infectious grooves that make your body move is something of second nature to Joe Traxler.
