Flora Fauna is an Alt-Pop project based in Los Angeles. Laura Baruch has been writing music for as long as she can remember. She cites Prince, Whitney Houston and The Beatles as some of her primary influences. With nature being her muse, she crafted the Flora persona. Laura describes her music as medicine for the modern condition. The Fauna in the duo is Peter Kastner, an Austrian multi-instrumentalist and producer (also Laura’s muse and husband).
Our Way Home was released in 2021, with a re-worked version that has just recently been released. The track has a certain Dream Pop, almost ethereal character that stands out significantly. The instrumental uses certain Synthwave characteristics that are somewhat similar to the 80s Disco Pop scene. It is always interesting to hear how people implement electronica in organic elements and vice versa. Laura Baruch has a brilliant voice that the track complements so well. Working with Bad Owl Records to produce their re-worked version of Our Way Home, the entire team has worked brilliantly to craft a final song that really touches the listener.
Flora Fauna is one of those projects that have an inane understanding of themselves. This allows them to create authentic music that becomes so relatable. Moreover, every element in the track fits so perfectly in contrast to the others.
