Smokingsforcoolpeople – Damian | Mix-bag of Treasures

Smokingsforcoolpeople is spearheaded by Christof Jennings who is raised in Birmingham and the west midlands. Christof studied his undergraduate on the ‘Creative Pathways” (Production) at the Academy of Contemporary Music Birmingham. Whilst studying, he has flourished in his production, sound engineering and mix engineering. He then continued with his Masters in “Commercial Music Production” at Tile-yard Education London. Christof is known for fusing R&B, hip-hop and trap with syncopated drums and punchy basslines.

Christof started off his music career at the age of 6 where he initially performed in church. His vocal abilities were quickly recognized by his uncle who, as a music producer, eventually moved to the USA from Jamaica to seek out new opportunities. The passion for music and performance grew, leading Christof to enroll in an HND with ‘Access To Music’, where he chiseled his craft and evolved himself as a song-writer and performer.

Shortly After Graduating Christof secured an internship with 2Sense Music’s ‘The Sync  Report’ where within one month he was promoted to lead editor of the podcast and TV show demonstrating his drive, professionalism and most importantly the quality of his work. On signing his first Sync Deal with Hook & Co, Christof’s hopes to capitalize on the commercial briefs he receives from both Tileyard and Hook & Co by making as many cuts as possible throughout 2022.

After spending the last few months introducing his work through an array of established and emerging artists, rapidly growing producer and songwriter Christof Jennings aka smokingsforcoolpeople has now dropped his long-awaited debut mixtape ‘Damian’.

Featuring the previously released collaborations ‘Sex Appeal’ with Sol Morgan and Ethos The Rapper, as well as his collaborative track with Zara Sykes, ‘Excuse Me’, the latest mixtape sheds light on his love and commendation for the rejoiced R&B sound. With the diverse musicality and lyricism, ‘Damian’ is all set to establish his name in the game.

‘Damian’ has 12 songs and each song is going to surprise you in a way you can not even imagine. The mixtape is the assorted collection of musicians that have some great musical and lyrical sense. The mixtape starts with the intro which has a strong melody of vocal chops and some amazing drums. The mixtape keeps up the pace with the next two songs that are, ‘Excuse me’ and ‘All your lovin’. The 2 songs between the interludes can be considered as the bridge of the album yet contains my favorite song from the album, ‘Sex Appeal’.

The next two tracks after the interlude are both a masterpiece and a must listen. The songs are so good that I don’t want to ruin the experience by writing it down in words. The experimentation us so profound that this might even emerge as a new genre soon.

The last song, ‘Damian’ is the outro and a perfect way to finish off the mix tape.

The vivid compilation of artist from different genre put together to form this masterpiece is remarkable. The mixtape is full of diverse songs and music elements. This mixtape is the perfect way to kickstart Christof’s career. The music is innovative and addictive. I just can’t get enough of this mixtape. This has been one of the most enjoyable mixtape I’ve herd in a while. Each song compliments the other so beautifully that it all seems like a single wave. This mixtape is a must listen for anyone who enjoys R&B, hip-hop, trap and screeches.
