Sex Habits recently released “The Power Of A Curse,” a monster-sounding record. The album is synth-heavy and harkens back to electronic soundscapes from the 1980s. Its rich sounding textures, on the other hand, make it feel contemporary or rather futuristic . Throughout the album, the mood is positive. As we play track after track, the excitement never dips. The lyrics is kept straightforward and uncomplicated so that listeners may simply get absorbed in the mood and immerse themselves in the vibe of such enormous synthetic soundscapes.
The album kicks out with “DYWMB,” a big sounding track. The vocoder-like vocal production is one of the things that truly draws you into the tune. There are various arpeggiated synthetic layers that effortlessly flow between patterns and tones. The groove also plays an important role in keeping all of the layers in the song together. The groove also shifts to a double time pattern at the correct interval, adding to the song’s excitement. The song truly sets the pace for the entire of the album. Throughout the performance, the vocals maintain a constant level of intensity. Moving forward, “When Dougs Cry” has only raised the excitement level. The soundscape is pretty much constant, yet it is presented to us with greater diversity and creativity. The initial rising progression is really successful in getting us in the mood. The most intriguing feature of the song for me is how the structure gradually unfolds and we begin to move along as the song grows on us. As we reach the outro, we’ll be thoroughly absorbed in the beat, moving our heads to the beat, and as it fades out, we’ll be left with the want for more.
The lovely atmosphere of “Agatha King Beach Episode” will just embrace you with its rich ambient textural sounds. The production is flawless, and the killer tones are quite successful in creating the desired mood. The vocal delivery is just great in terms of intensity. The composition on this song is precise and straightforward, yet the phrases are really addictive. The vocal melody would also linger in our minds, causing us to return to this tune after a time. The feeling is incredibly powerful, and it is nearly the best quality of all the tracks thus far. Every synthetic tone is so well picked that it never seems like it’s distracting us from the songs’ sphere and atmosphere.
The album’s last concluding tune, “Wolf 359,” beautifully summarises the album. There are some incredibly beautiful 16th note arpeggiated rhythms that sound truly magnificent. There are a few guitar lines or melodies that really helped to boost the song’s energy. As it fades out, the music is upbeat and exudes a high-spirited mood. As a consequence, the album’s experience lingers with you, and every layer we’ve listened to has such rich synthetic textures and guitar lines that are really deadly. I’m confident a lot of electronic music listeners would have a strong emotional connection to the record, and its emotive nature would make it distinctive.
