Smotherly Love is a UK-based alternative and psychedelic singer-songwriter. His exquisite musical knowledge and production quality really show in his music. With a relatively short discography of two singles and one album, Smotherly Love may not seem very experienced, but his music would show you otherwise.
Two Flights Up is such a great track. It has everything a Psychedelic Synth-Pop track needs. The beats are groovy as hell. The synthesizer creates futuristic vibes and the vocals have just the right amount of reverb. Collaborating with the extremely talented Laura Shaw, Smotherly Love has created a track that speaks to all synth lovers. Two Flights Up remind me of Tame Impala, Pond, LCD Soundsystem and Ceramic Animal all wrapped up into one. Smotherly Love makes the best of his synth without even making it obvious. The melodies and countermelodies are congruent and the bass breathes life into the depth. Additionally, with Laura Shaw’s mellifluous vocals on the track, you can’t go wrong with this one.
As a fan of psychedelic synth-pop, I can’t tell you how great it is to find artists that get it right. Everything about Two Flights Up sounds like it was executed perfectly.
