Owen Coleman, an independent musician has burst onto the scene with his debut single, Greed. The American artist claims to be part of the Pop-Rock genre, and I must say, that he’s not wrong. Deriving influence from Paul McCartney and Charlie Puth, Coleman blends the two styles to create some really well-fused and mixed music. I can’t shake the Adam Levine and Maroon 5 similarities for some reason.
Greed just sounds like it belongs on the Maroon 5 discography. It’s got these funky sounding elements in the synths, and these driving drums that will get you moving your head to the groove. Owen Coleman has such a powerful voice, with such a dynamic vocal range. It sounds like he’s taken Pop-rock to the roots of these funky riffs, groovy beats, and some pretty ambitious vocal melodies.
When I think about it, Owen Coleman has some time ahead of him, but with the right guidance, can probably achieve the same heights as Adam Levine, Charlie Puth, John Newman, and the likes. As a fan of music, in general, I must say that it’s been a while since we’ve had an artist like Coleman. So, what are you waiting for?
