Every Other Weekend is the former singer of a Manchester-based band. Following the release of the band’s second album in 2016, he stepped away from songwriting and music. This period came shortly after the loss of his father in late 2015, a figure who had a profound influence on him both musically and personally. For a long time, the grief made it difficult for him to even consider returning to music. In early 2018, he began casually recording voice notes of melodies he found himself humming. Eventually, he felt it might be time to bring those ideas together, turning them into a collection of songs recorded at home, serving as a form of therapy as much as a creative process. Lyrically, the project explores themes of renewal, self-forgiveness, and gratitude.
