New York‑based collective Energy Whores, is known for their blunt political commentary hidden under and shimmer of synths and sparkle. It is the brainchild of New York vocalist and visual artist Carrie Schoenfeld. She crafts the lyrics, keys, and striking imagery behind the project, along with guitarist Attilio Valenti, whose riffs thread grit through the shimmer.

The collective released their latest single Hey Hey Hate! on July 11, 2025, blurring the lines between protest and party. The electro‑punk track is strangely subversive: instead of charging in with anger, it throws confetti in the air and blinds you with glitter.
It paints a picture of a crew of girls in candy‑colored bandanas, roller skating through the streets, spray‑painting over propaganda posters; not out of mischief, but as an act of resistance. Their vandalism isn’t destruction; it’s reclamation.

By the time the song blooms into its chorus : “With propaganda in our heads, it’s easy to be misled. Because the truth is hard to take. We listen to these lies instead.” You’re hit with a glitter bomb, dazzling first, then detonating when you least expect it.
Moreover, the rhythm of Hey Hey Hate! pulls you into its light EDM groove, and the lyric “We have to stop before it’s too late,” makes every sway and twist feel like its own small flavor of protest.
