The latest short film by Ben Bostian, and its soundtrack by Ellery Twining of the same name, Oy! is an excellent piece of two individuals’ artistry coming together as one in the sense that the film in itself is a series of clips with different visual impressions such as snow-covered mountains, vast spread-out hills, forests, huts, etc., along with two characters present throughout but again shown in different engagements such as driving through a road with trees on both sides, walking through wooden pathways, or simply being present within the landscape, and this exactly where Ellery Twining’s composition of the soundtrack comes into play.
Besides being just a background score, the major aspect of this soundtrack is that it showcases the true concept of indeterminate music and keeps evolving through boundless improvisations, and sometimes each track seems like taking birth out of the previous one, thereby adding a sonic continuity to the visuals of the film and making the sound and image exist and flow together.
