A piano piece based in atmosphere and skilful melodic arrangement, the playing stands out from right the very first second. As the motifs evolve into gentle melodies, unaccompanied by anything but the reverbs and the chords, there’s something beautifully minimalistic about “Dropping The Wishing Coin”, and it shows — the execution is tender, gentle and intimate, and the sound is deep, layered, and very well executed.

The sections of the track flow effortlessly into one another, all strung together by the main piano motif that stays persistent from beginning to end, while having a soft evolution throughout the passages that breathe life and personality into the track. The chords are simplistic, forgoing embellishment for subtle emotive impact, and are beautifully expressed with Élodie Renaud’s playing — with just the right amounts of emphasis on the melodic lines and the rest of the arrangement. The pulse of the piece is slow, takes its time, but at the end, delivers excellent atmosphere and expression.
All in all, Élodie Renaud brings us a winner in the form of “Dropping The Wishing Coin” — from beginning to end, this piece represents a kind of elegance and minimalistic fluency that comes through beautifully on the piano — take a listen to the piece here!
