Dirty Mitts Delivers Classic Rock’n’Roll Storytelling With ‘Electric Kid’

Dirty Mitts’‘Electric Kid’ is a blues-inspired rock’n’roll track that tells the story of a shy kid gone wild. The spunky guitars over loud percussion give the song an old-school groove that’s hard not to bob your head to.

‘Electric Kid’ and its Spunky Sound

Tommy’s (the vocalist’s) raspy tone with its slight country twang gives the song its familiar spunky attitude. The guitars keep the pace under the vocals, looping in rough intervals before being followed by loud guitars.

The lyrics on ‘Electric Kid’ are in the first person. They describe the experiences of a shy little boy who grows up to become someone unpredictable. This seems in keeping with the themes of the genre, both sonically and thematically

‘Electric Kid’ has guitar solos at two intervals that speak to the song’s imagery and mood. It’s almost like the vocals and the guitars are in a duet of sorts. One can picture this sound, found in the corner of a dingy bar in the middle of nowhere.

Something about the sound of ‘Electric Kid’ feels antiquated in a nostalgia-inducing way. It evokes the sounds of 80s rock in a deeply familiar way. Its electric groove keeps its listeners engaged throughout while its subject matter and sound remind them of something familiar.

All in all, ‘Electric Kid’ by Dirty Mitts is a fun listen with a familiar groove reminiscent of a classic rock’n’roll track.
