‘Dheere’: Slow & Deep Intimacy

‘Dheere’ (or ‘Slow’ in Hindi) captures moments of deep intimacy, that is slow and seemingly bathed in incense. Its a duet that captures singular emotions, feelings that are pretty much in sync with their allure and pull.

…Dheere dheere se re

Kareeb aake mere,

Leja sasson se, khaffa raaton se,

Bechainiya meri…

Rough Translation:

…Slowly, slowly,

Come closer to me.

Take away the sighs, the angry nights

My restlessness…”.

The song is lost in sensation, highlighting moments of ecstasy by describing vague allusions to sense and touch. Its lines are poetic descriptions of mood and sensual urges, lighting the song’s mood with warm yet soft tone.

“...Baahon ke darmiya,

Haya ki bandishe kho geye.

Laboon ke narmiya,

Bata ke ki khwahishe wo geye…

Rough Translation:

…The restraints of modesty,

They are lost in (your) arms.

The softness of your lips (that) tell me your wishes,

They are gone…”.

‘Dheere’ by Shubham Roy is a slow build layered in poetic, romantic sensation. The two protagonists seek their sanctuary. They are eachother’s safe space.

…Leja mujko, tu waha.

Tere mera woh jaha.”.

Rough Translation:

“…You take me there,

To that place that is yours and mine…”
