Everyone who has listened to Coordinates live has raved about them. There’s a certain energy their songs give off that makes it feel like prog metal is their vernacular. The band, based in New Delhi, had sent ripples through India’s metal community with All I Have in 2021. With sporadic releases surprising fans, this one is going to lay them straight to rest. With Sahil Khurana on vocals, guitarists Surbhit Singh and Yash Sharma and drummer Rishabh Kapoor – this is called Coma.
Whether it’s the limbic experience of being in one or being put into one, Coordinates do a splendid job of introducing the listener into the middle of the song. A djent section with tapping guitars overlay becomes this turbulent section of viscous ether you’re thrown into. The percussions and riff work are incredible, pacing you for the velocity the song is going to bring. You can hear the dreamy vocals coming in only after the 40-second mark, which switches to a powerful gear with impactful growling. I enjoyed how the song built to this peak with percussions, vocals and the soul of the song baring itself for the sudden vacuum they might design. Let’s not pre-empt anything.

The metal threshold breaks
The atmospheres that Coordinates create are rich, dense and carry a chorus that will sear itself in the memories of our listeners. The hallucinogenic music video is a great combo with the song, showing the band going through pulverising sections with a minimal mise-en-scene. Their passion and charge are more relevant than ever now, bringing some unreal energy to the new composition. The mature breathing spaces they leave for heavier sections really leave that impact you’d want to experience from metal that has evolved through the years.
The band is also extremely excited to announce their upcoming EP: Ever Dark Never Gone coming out in June this year.
