“Clean My Room”, by Ava Valianti: Clean feel-good pop

Ava Valianti is the sixteen-year-old pop powerhouse based out Newbury, Massachusetts, in the United States. Since her 2023 debut, she’s been steadily carving out a name for herself as a force that goes beyond bubblegum textbook pop — and on her latest single, “Clean My Room”, she furthers her sound; keep reading for my thoughts!

The track opens with a cinematic orchestral pad section, slightly underlined by the guitars, and an impact introduces Ava to the track — and right from the start, her lower registers dominate the sonic field. Her harmonious humming lines make for a solid foundation, while the basses and the kick drum complete the rhythmic ensemble on “Clean My Room”.

The lyricism and songwriting are feel-good and relatable in the best ways, and as “Clean My Room” progresses into the chorus section, the vocal lines and harmonies make a triumphant return as the energy swells and ebbs like the high tides. The second verse is particularly well written and produced, with a nice drum beat keeping the time. The listener can’t help but slowly sway their head to the gentle pulsating rhythm, as the tight vocals let a hum escape one’s lips without them even realizing it.

The production on “Clean My Room” is, in a word, clean. Open, expansive instrumentation is the name of the game, with beautifully controlled energy sections adding a sense of dimension and weight to the song. The low-end is present and powerful, with the sparkly highs creating a wide soundstage. The layers are mixed rather well, with crisp and detailed imaging.

All in all, “Clean My Room” presents an overall rather well-put-together package that’s sure to keep you engaged from beginning to end. Take a listen to the track here!
