“Bubblegum Pop”, by DayEyez: Embracing AI to make powerful, moving rock!

Born and raised in Nelson, New Zealand, Shaun Dayman, a lifelong aficionado of pop and rock, explores the endless possibilities of the digital age through his project, DayEyez. Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, DayEyez cooks music that transcends the ordinary, highlighted in his debut single, “Bubblegum Pop” — keep reading for my thoughts!

Adopting a high-energy pop rock sound brought to the fore with the thumping, deep drumming, there’s energy in the mix right from the very start — and as the guitars kick in, DayEyez elevate the track to new heights, one second after another; and all along the process, remain firmly grounded to the positively infectious rock formula. Shaun also knocks it out of the park with the vocal performance, with electric energy bleeding from the mix at every turn.

The instrumentation on “Bubblegum Pop” is electric, the pacing is just perfect, and there’s also much to appreciate about the epic synths in the background, adding just that much more punch to the guitars, and lending the mix a unique timbre, a unique punch that’s hard to ignore.  To top it off, the mix is tight, with a seemingly infinitely wide soundstage, with the basses and the drums firmly concentrated in the centre of the mix.
