Allan Jamisen’s ‘Rock & Roll American’ : A Groove Machine

The spirit of rock n roll is fun. It’s groovy, free and has a whole lot of heart. It is a state of mind. You’ve got to live it, breathe it and sing it out loud. Allan Jamisen knows exactly what the assignment is. His rock n roll is hard core, authentic and raw in the best way. He brings a little bit of the blues and psychedelics, some experiment and exploration to his style. It’s as if he embodies the genre but in a way that is true to him. And that’s the icing on top of the cake.

His latest release is ‘Rock & Roll American’, a track that brings the style to modern America. The set up is so fresh and new. It is mellow, a contrast that allows him to put rock & roll on a pedestal. Alongside the modern is the classic of course. We see some Americana influences: quivering accordions, blues vocals. The drama of the blues is again infused with the duality of his smooth vocals.

As we get to the second verse, we start seeing the psychedelics in the fringes. Focused melodic tangents, swimming riffs, warped vocal fabric, absurd electronic fractures. It all takes us back to the 60s era, all revived for the 21st century. The song is definitely something you want on your radar if you’re looking for interesting music. Cerebral, soulful and hearty.
