‘A Million Voices’: Doubts, Indecision and New Beginning

Its haunting piano, heavy percussion and deep, fast-paced synths capture the depth of the indecisive doubt. Especially, when faced with one’s ambitions/new beginnings. The lyrics describe the process of moving forward, away from the pain of indecisiveness.

The piano on ‘A Million Voices’ leads the listener in, setting the mood of the song . The cadence in this motif brings in a little bit of lightness. Especially when the rest of the instrumentation feels a bit too intense.

The vocals on the song are low in the mix. They serve to layer the song’s raw emotion along with the heavy swirl of emotion in the instrumental. This is while the lyrics move from being consumed by the millions of voices of doubt to a point where those doubts don’t matter. They convey the mood of being on the precipice of something, a new beginning or a lofty ambition (or both?).

Nekoticat’s ‘A Million Voices’ is a raw, melodic manifesto that attempts to express the deepness of indecision in the face of a new experiences. It sounds like proof of a new beginning and the end of a long period of indecisiveness. By the end, the song feels fully realised, and a weight feels lifted off one’s shoulders.

It’s a message fitting for a debut single and worth a listen.
