Leftpop brings symbolism to music the way it used to exist before. Coherent with present experiences, existing now and far into the future-this art is to absorb yourself into. The album is called rain enough, with a memorable backstory and gentle melodies that will embed themselves in your soul. Across 11 tracks, Leftpop writes music that is equal parts nostalgia, thrill and a whole lot of emotion.
Crafting the essence
Through the album, you are reminded by the notes to look around, experience life. Sure, it is gentle piano notes that imitate, respect and complement the patterns of rain. Through it all, there is a resurgence of how melodies impact us, write themselves into your daily lives. As a reflection of the kind of season it is, Leftpop ensures the incision is very deliberate and feel based. The moment is tactical, as though you were looking at what a drizzle does to refresh nature.
Through the triptych that you experience, there is a different pacing to the rain that will embrace you. Is it a storm? A gentle breeze and shower? A refreshing spell that comes and goes, asking to be a part of your memory? One can only wonder. This is the beauty of instrumental music; coming together to become an abstract vision of your internal psyche.
Hear the artists’ story of finding the piano which birthed all this sound:
I was working as a stagehand in an auditorium, and on my lunch break I would go down to the basement, into a little corridor next to the scene shop where the grand piano was stored
Now you can picture them composing this music. Far below where the drama happens, but very much in its vicinity. Not really asking for the spotlight-but bathing in the limelight as you relive experiences.
The label is New Memento, based in Ridgewood, Queens in New York City. Focused on the physical aspects of media and magazines-this is the retro touch our art needs to be seen and respected.
Visualising time, and space
That’s what happens when you listen to sky as well. It might be a soft, melancholy opening with a slow opening. Yet, each note is deliberate and rings out. When bicycle notebook comes in next, you’re treated to the spinning of the wheel. Arpeggiated wonderfully-the positive tones ring out with the playful youth the bicycle embodies.
Each element of nature has been carefully thought about before presenting as the gem it is. It takes its own time to make its presence felt. It is told as a story, not a short video that you watch and forget. It’s the things that make all this music worth living for-holding an essence that is thrilling and enticing.
I was enamoured by how the artist presented storm as well. Rather than a sombre, scary piece with minor notations, Leftpop perfects a narrative about what the simple things are. It is not dense because they’re able to present it with skill. This is the music that you remember with the memories you sometimes don’t. Let them come together beautifully:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
