Electro doom lands with grimwav and their latest album, “DEATH II FLESH”

You’re in for an electro treat like no other with grimwav. The artist remains an enigma behind their work. It can be anyone, they can be anything. What matters is the catchy music they create and the waves they make. This latest album has some doom theme to it, and has swagger electro written all over. This one is called DEATH II FLESH.

Opening with Chariot, you’re treated to a dystopian electro ambience. This is how you set the tone for an album. There is a source code that grimwav seems to be following. The beats fall heavy, and the lead elements are exciting to say at the least.  It has some moments of depth, while still relying on an industrial sound. The depth of field is amazing, where the artist really explores the electrophile medium he creates. In Dance II the Bone, he uses techno soundscape while making engaging percussive patterns. grimwav  really understands the dark theme they follow-while making experimentative leaps in sound.

The lead elements become more tantalizing and buzzing as the songs go on. The next is in Find Out., where a kick-ass hook brings all the energy. It sounds like something that will be used on John Wick. Sharp tones, sudden FX styles and unpredictable patterns with throw you off.

The electro groove to absorb

The album title single is next, with a doom scape being created. It is an IDM gem, making the theme and effect unique, while adding layer after layer. The artist is at their best, while making the narrative more complex in their own way.

Although interludes are often times ignored art pieces, there are unique jazzy progressions being added. This truly acts as the break from the theme, almost like an interval you want to accustom your palette to. Grimwav has made a name within this genre as an indie artist, and where they go from here is not known.

The darker, more hollow beats used in I don’t know are unique. The relation between percussion and lead keeps changing, keeping you on your toes as an engaged listener as well. You cannot see where any song is going, adding to the exciting composition’s layered complexities.

Soundscapes to feel out

On Fire will keep bringing that swagger back with some killer lead elements. This is where sound and production can be heard enjoying their best. This is the zeal that you expect from an experimenting sound genius. Creating matrixes of sound that can have endless possibilities, as far as the brain can think.

When you reach Synchronicity, you’re in a place to appreciate the versatility delivered on this album. Not only is each song within the darker theme chosen, there is still great range in how the sounds are used. This is the kind of canvas other artists need to think.
