Fallen Letters delve through the trenches of metal with their latest, “Distant Lines”

Fallen Letters has found its niche, and it lies in their journey to understand the mind. Prog-metal is an audience which is like seeing orange trees having tangerines. It might look like they’re here for prog, not experience an aural journey that makes them think, listen and consider. This is where the band excels. This is their latest single from their upcoming album, Mindfractures. Here is Distant Lines.

Gracing us with a video as well, Fallen Letters tries to test their horizons. I mean, genuinely broaden it, to something that might be unique to experience. Distant Lines is the tale of an escaping dream–it’s within arms reach but left to free will. Vishal Naidu & Co. give character to the music, an ominous riff defining the charge with which the song goes. Drummer Mukund Narasimhan delivers punishing double bass, giving a black metal essence to the bridge of the song.

Yet, the chorus lingers with a congenial approach. Melodic motifs from Aditya Ramesh and Vishal create a volley of instrumentals for all the lyrics. It tantalises you, for it asks you to be included in the song–reminiscing what this protagonist might be going through. In trying to dip their feet to check the depth, they create a song to be proud of–a metal badge for the equally metal community.

The “homeschooled” video so to speak is able to craft the angst with visuals that depict the disarray. You can hear Fallen Letters maturing to overcome their inspirations, to carve a sound that is in their name. That future might be closer than we think:
