Antonio Ministeri makes some of the most enchanting music. It is a product of thought, innovation and a style that is coded in his DNA. This goes beyond being a composer and musician, in certain parts. His latest collection is a soothing recession into a space between time. This one is called In Bloom.
If we are witnessing, nay, hearing metamorphosis, whatever Antonio Ministeri has done is apt. Making lush instrumental soundscapes that build on each other, layer by layer, is truly fascinating to experience. His sound is unlike any other composer, in terms of thoughtful execution, that I have heard. Breath is one such example, a single core melody around which a garland is woven. The result is something you’d want to be soaked in, a fraction of time to live within.

Iridescent instrumental magic with Antonio Ministeri
Though the title track named song is the second, it acts like a chapter within the previous. The flowing instrumentals tantalise, while layered approaches give you a glimpse of what is to come. There is quite a bit of drama involved for someone who wants to immerse themselves in this experience. Listening through a DAW with fine-tuning makes this an incredible, wholesome experience to take in, one sound byte at a time. Antonio Ministeri uses the simplest of chord progressions to make something so elegant, you forget the tapestries of time with respect to melody.
A bit quicker and dynamic, Clouds comes next. Like the movement of the wisps of cotton that are our immediate overlords, this song explores layers in all its truth. You’ll feel like listening to them one by one, just so that you can dive deeper into this kaleidoscope of sound and fabricated visuals of your mind’s eye. What you’re thinking, is what the imagery correlates to. Few composers like Antonio Ministeri have the absolute talent to do this with no elements overpowering.
Through fantasy, via memory
Blackout continues this instrumental fantasy, and it is worth obsessing over at this point. Forget the software programs and mediums, I want to know the thought process that leads to such seamless sounds accompanying our lives. This musician has pushed the envelope of ambient classical music with contemporary ties. Lieve and songs of this texture might be slower, but in no way compromise the vision that Antonio has. You will be reminded of his composition in Muqataea, which he co-arranged with composer Francesca Guccione.
