Tom Morello Announces New Album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, Drops New Single ‘Date Night’

Tom Morello is back with new music. The Rage Against the Machine guitarist has announced his seventh solo album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, which arrives on September 25 via Mom + Pop Music. Along with the announcement, he has released a new single called Date Night.

Despite its title, Date Night is not a love song. Instead, it tells the true story of three Dutch teenagers who joined the resistance during World War II and fought against Nazi officers.

Speaking about the song, Morello made it clear what he wanted to say through it. “I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists. I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists,” he said. He added that the song, Date Night, asks one simple question: “Which side are you on?”

The new album also brings together a wide range of artists. Serj Tankian and Morello’s son, Roman Morello, appear on the previously released track Adjourn It. The record also features collaborations with Irish rap group Kneecap and Ohio rock band Beartooth.

Morello will also hit the road in support of the album. He will play shows in Nashville, Louisville, and Milwaukee. He will also headline the first-ever Power to the People Festival in Washington, D.C., this October. The festival will feature artists including Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Killer Mike, and Brittany Howard.

With Everyone Gets Everything They Want, Morello once again mixes rock music with strong political ideas. If Date Night is any sign of what’s to come, the new album will stay true to the message that has shaped his music for decades.
