Sepultura Announce 40th Anniversary Live Album and Farewell Tour

After 40 years of bringing relentless groove metal to the masses, Sepultura are hanging their proverbial boots. The band have announced a farewell tour, with 40 being their magic number.

The band was formed in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and has created a theme like no other band from the time. Mixing influences from Latin, Samba, Brazilian folk as well as tribal music.

As part of their live tour, the band will be recording 40 live tracks in 40 different cities. The band shared a statement, a part of it quoted below:

“After four decades filled with ups and downs, having visited 80 countries and countless different cultures, we’ve had the chance to become Brazil’s messenger to the world and spread our colours and rhythms worldwide. With our latest studio album Quadra, a highlight of our career, we added an unforgettable chapter followed by the SepulQuarta experience that helped us to overcome the difficult times of the pandemic together. We will unite our forces for one final, strong farewell. And all of you can be a part of it.”

Statement from Sepultura

Bands like Slipknot, Korn, Hatebreed, Alien Weaponry, Krisiun, Gojira, Between the Buried and Me, Bullet for My Valentine, Xibalba, Vein, Toxic Holocaust, Children of Bodom, Code Orange, Puya and Nails have called Sepultura definitive inspiration.

Known best for their groundbreaking album Roots, Sepultura set the stage on fire, collaborating with the indigenous Xavante tribe in Mato Grosso, having elements like percussion, chanting and ambient essences.

The band will now be touring with Jinjer, Obituary and Jesus Piece for a UK and Euro tour.
