Ryan Gosling’s Spooky Band Dead Man’s Bones Might Be Making New Music After 17 Years

Ryan Gosling’s spooky indie-folk project Dead Man’s Bones might finally be waking up from the grave, and fans have reason to get excited. After 17 years without a new album, the band has started dropping hints that something could be on the way.

Eva Mendes Drops a Major Hint About a Possible Comeback

The latest clue came from Gosling’s wife, Eva Mendes, who took to Instagram on Wednesday, October 21, to share a gothic video by Fiona Florence featuring Dead Man’s Bones’ track ‘In The Room Where You Sleep’.

“Fiona Florence’s spooky beauty to one of my favourite songs. Wouldn’t be the spooky season without Dead Man’s Bones,” Mendes wrote. She also added that she wished the band had new music coming out.

When a fan asked whether she knew something they didn’t, Mendes replied, “Maybe I do…”

Things got even more interesting when the official Dead Man’s Bones Instagram account shared a snippet of spoken-word audio. Some fans believe the track is called ‘Hypnotism’, although details have not been confirmed. The band has promised to reveal more information on October 27.

The Band Behind Ryan Gosling’s Gothic Musical Side

Dead Man’s Bones was formed by Gosling and musician Zach Shields, who bonded over their shared love of spooky attractions, particularly Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride. The duo turned that fascination into music, blending indie folk with eerie vocals, ghostly themes and a children’s choir.

Their self-titled debut album arrived in October 2009 through ANTI-. Originally conceived as the soundtrack to a play about a monster-ghost love story, the record has continued to attract listeners despite the band’s long absence.

Gosling previously hinted at a possible reunion during press for Barbie in 2023, saying “never say never” when asked about the project.

The duo reunited for a handful of performances in 2010, playing venues including churches and synagogues, but have not performed live since.
