The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 inductees, honouring a diverse group of influential artists across genres.
Phil Collins, Oasis, Billy Idol, Wu-Tang Clan, Luther Vandross, Sade, Joy Division/New Order and Iron Maiden will join the Rock hall in the performer category.
Ryan Seacrest and Lionel Richie revealed the list during a special Rock Hall-themed episode of American Idol. In addition to performer inductees, Queen Latifah, Gram Parsons, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti and MC Lyte will receive the Early Influence Award. Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin will be recognized with the Musical Excellence Award.
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after releasing their first recording. Collins, Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan earned induction on their first nominations. Collins previously entered the Hall as a member of Genesis in 2010, making this his second induction. Billy Idol and Sade secured entry on their second nominations, while Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order and Oasis succeeded on their third attempts.
Artists who did not make the list
Mariah Carey remains one of the most notable omissions this year, missing out on induction for the third time. Other artists who did not make the list include Lauryn Hill, Pink, The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge and INXS.
The Hall will also honor Ed Sullivan with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for his impact on the music industry. His television show introduced major acts such as Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles to mainstream audiences, helping shape modern popular music.
The induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Organizers will broadcast the event on ABC and Disney+ in December, while the ceremony will return to Cleveland in 2027.
