This coming Saturday, April 13th, BBC iPlayer & BBC 2 will premiere “Moments That Shook Music: Kurt Cobain”. Directed by John Osborne, the under 60 min documentary commemorates Kurt Cobain’s 30th death anniversary.

Kurt, who would have been 57 years old this year, died in April 1994 from a massive drug overdose and shooting himself in the head. Shocking everyone, Cobain’s death has always had a mysterious cloud. Hanging over it, leading to lots of conspiracy theories and suspicions of foul play. This documentary aims to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.
This film has collated never-before-seen clips. From the chaos, confusion, and devastation captured by fans to the statements from law enforcement, and the reaction of the electrician who discovered Cobain’s body. The documentary aims to present a raw and unfiltered portrayal of events surrounding the rock legend’s death. There’s an unseen interview with Cobain from just months before he died. Also a recording of wife, Courtney Love reading a final letter of Cobain’s to fans at a vigil.
The Voice of a Generation
In an interview with the BBC, Osborne said, “Kurt Cobain was the reluctant voice of a generation and his death has left a huge void. The only way to make sense of what happened is to make a testimony that audiences won’t be able to stop watching. This documentary aims to demystify that moment and tell the story in a direct and accurate way with footage shot by the people who were there.”
BBC will be honouring Cobain’s legacy, showcasing various programs across television and radio. Paying tribute to this incredible musician’s life, the documentary “Moments That Shook Music:Kurt Cobain” will premiere on BBC 2 at 21:25 hours. And on the same night, BBC will also re-broadcast “When Nirvana Came To Britain” from 22:10 hours. Starting at 23:10 hours, there will be highlights from Foo Fighters’ 2019 Reading & Leeds headline set. Alongside, the band will be featured in Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
