Coral Palms – Something in the Air | Electrifying

Indie-pop band Coral Palms is out with their eagerly anticipated, fourth single of the year, ‘Something in the Air‘. Their rock-inspired, soul-lifting music has garnered over 200,000 Spotify streams in 2021, with fan favourites like ‘Open Roads’ and ‘Echoes’ being among the band’s most popular tracks. Founded in Devon, also home to Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Coral Palms currently make music out of London. The four members of the band, Ollie, Will, Adrano, and Callum, share a relatable story of lust in their latest single, which is both energetic and nostalgic as well.

The track begins with a hard-hitting drum beat and doubled riffs on a guitar and a synth. Right from its intro, the hook melody and upbeat rhythm evoke a feeling of optimism. They sing about the magic moment when you meet someone for the first time, how the first seconds alone can get your heart racing.

– “The way you did your hair tonight / Has got my heart in overdrive / So take it up a notch this time / And when you pull me closer can you feel it? / There’s something in the air tonight”.

An exhilarating drum performance drives this masterfully composed track through seamless transitions and lively choruses. As the track progresses, it gradually gets louder and more intense; Coral Palms will surely have you head-banging by the end!

Along with appealing and fast-paced melodies, the song incorporates a variety of rhythms that flow seamlessly into one another, expressing the journey of love and lust from the band’s perspective. In addition, the guitar lead towards the end takes the track to the next level! Top-notch writing and an admirably clean mix.
