There is an aspect of Shugya’s in his music that is woven through every theme and beat. This is his latest single called MORTLAKE and it is an inspiring experience as it is, as much as it is a spectrum of emotion.
Real brilliance can be heard in Tiger Adopt’s compositions from the album Interstitial Static in 2024. Before this, he experimented, treading waters of different temperatures with his glitch electronica music. There is a unique comfort he finds when he sings over the rising melodies in MORTLAKE. There is one rich layer of synth that becomes the canvas of the song. Tiger Adopt sings over this while a synth lead mirrors the voice and the energy. In this 7-minute-plus epic, you get to experience sonic mastery as this musician writes a melodic novel for your ears.
I really hope you chose wearing headphones for this even though it’s late notice. It’s worth observing how much detail and texture has been painted into the song. Sam Bishop has put a lot of thought into how a song unfolds, wraps around you, and transports you to another place. The lucid combination of live instruments with glitching dynamic backgrounds is the kind of mental imagery that you can only dream of. Thankfully, Tiger Adopt does that for you.
The melody in itself is inspiring and light, and it permeates the ether. Instrumental builds are given time and patience, as they don’t just build but kind of grow around you. Sam Bishop’s use of aural depth is amazing. He is not just diffusing a certain melody but rather letting it reach its organic end before something else begins.
