Old school rock had lost its bite, and the project is here to bring that back. The band led by songwriter-guitarist Jim Davis has been able to create swinging, passionate rock for the past few years. Though the musicians themselves have been part of bands from before, they come together with a singular passion in this collective. This is their first album after they announced this collective. After a slew of several hit singles, we’re finally getting to listen to “this is not a test”.
All the musicians on the project come from legendary lineups and decades of playing live music together. There is a reason why every track sounds crisp and has incredible solos and rhythm sections that you will be humming along to. Opening with the track “best days.” It reminds you of that late 90s pop that dominated rock radio. Vocals have a levity to them while also being able to soar past the rapid, catchy rhythm section led by Jim Davis and co. We immediately shift gears to the next track called “death of me,” and you can bet on the axe not pausing here.
Rock, with the bells and whistles
It’s all not just a hard rock drive. Great ballads are included in this collection as well. Mykele Hill joins the project for “whats it gonna take”. It will remind you of Bon Jovi and Whitesnake all put together with familiar finesse and a vision that is looking far into the future. It’s a future the band deserves to have and one it’ll own. In songs like “Hope” and “Bailey’s song”, they make the lyrics personable, emotive, and something that’s very difficult to replicate.

How much of their journey have they been able to capture into this album? It’s an important question, and though very difficult for most artists, they have done an impeccable job. All those decades of experience distilled together to create a swirling cocktail of inspiration, driving fuel, and stories that might be too crazy to tell now. It’s not just these compositions that are worth fawning over. The production ensures you are able to get that 80s rock litter while updating the quality to the era of technology we live in today.
Reminiscing the rhythm
What started as just Jim Davis’ photo as the album art has now grown to a moment that’s all about the music. I remember listening to and reviewing “best days” when it had released. There was an immediate connection, not just because we were getting to listen to great rock. Industry veterans had come together with a jolt of passion to deliver music that can help them keep on living. You can think of this as just another rock album even though you know it isn’t. What you can know for sure is that this is not a test:
