Our Demise is recalibrating humanity’s downfall through observation. As a collective, we seem to be heading towards doom, and this band is witnessing the mockery just like us. However, they have some death metal at our doorstep to enjoy before we go. This is some of the finest deathcore from Perth, Australia. Their EP Insidious is what we review today.
I have heard both their singles Flesh Vessel and Vultures as singles when it released. It is formidable energy, something that makes you question the worth of headliner acts when there is something even more sinister yet stylish sitting here. Our Demise create a bludgeoning mastodon with this EP, with some killer riffs, gut-punching breaks and strafing blast beats. This is all the golden matter that runs through a metalhead’s mind.

Flesh Vessel opens this crypt, and we’re off almost instantly. Their choice of tones, scales and lyrics is a class apart from many other acts, for the amount of effort they put in. It is a thunderous welcome, after which you are subjected to the catacomb in See the Hate. Like any superb riff should grace you, this song comes in heavy and short doses. Production allows you to feel the gravity of their booming sound. Rhythmic parts are classy, phrasing it in ways that allow you to absorb these punches like a crash test dummy.
Soyuz-11 sees a Randy Rhoads with some really cool syncopation. You get a glimpse of a history lesson as well as some of the most doom inducing metal riffs. Our Demise have ensured their music has the same zeal and feverish resolve that you’d feel live, at home. As I sit in front of my audio set up with this blasting in my headphones, I can almost feel the pit grow around me. Intense work overall.

When we reach Insidious Infatuation, you better hope you can get to the closest hospital quick. The slower tempo allows for some heavier chops being sliced and given with all the meat and gore. This means, you cannot not headbang, you must. They hide their prizes at the end of this canonist cereal box, and echo the euphoria of Marrow Harvest. One of their heaviest and most deadly, it is 4 and a half minutes of pure chaos, with some deft technical work. They are bringing the balance in this genre unlike any other of their contemporaries.
If you’re in Perth and reading this, know that they are on tour, and you can catch them with some other killer acts. Their debut EP has packed a lot, mostly their incredible reputation, and there is a sea of metal horns out to support them. Go and join them, and follow this band for more!:
