The Sun Harmonic is a three piece rock n roll band. They have a home grown sound, one that speaks directly to who they are and what they stand for. The stylistic profiles and charisma glistens with an authenticity that you can’t help but fall in love with. There’s something so appealing about being true to your craft. These guys know who they are as musicians and are not afraid to let it reveal itself. Their latest release is the band’s 7th studio album! The band celebrates their sound, journey, and camaraderie by going back to basics. They called the collection ‘Self-Titled’, a way of paying homage to what got them started, the music, the style that made them who they are.

‘Waiting’ opens the album on a reflective note. An immersive classic rock start that builds into a deep listening experience. The band really leans into the sentimentality of their themes. With slow, swirling instrumentals, they temper intensity and pave a path to the listener and their experience. In ‘Homesick’, we get a heartfelt, feel good, mellow folk rock number. ‘The Thought of Magic and Flight’ is a rock ballad where the intimate spotlight meets the fringes of a rockstar. So you get a confluence of the inner thoughts and its extended magic and emotions with this song.
The songwriting reveals the band and its members, their journey and experiences. It goes beyond just music and strikes at the heart of what makes them unique, special and well, them. This album introduces the listener to so many dimensions of the band, starting with the music and then going deeper. While we see a few more softer compositions with ‘Slowdance’ and ‘This Old Train’, there are more expressive and explosive soundscapes as well.
In ‘Glory Days’, we see a theatrical rock opera sort of delivery. ‘Space’ is edgy with a rock n roll drive that will have you grooving for a long time to come. ‘Today is not the Day’ is a pop-ish rock n roll song that lifts dramatically and rolls with a feel good energy. It transports with lyrical histrionics and dynamic instrumentals. ‘So, My Mind’ is also quite interesting. Starting at a light space, it rolls out a slow burn carpet that you can readily dissolve into. Yes, it’s that good. The depth and weight of the instrumentals are illuminated by the drag in the vocals, the power in the voice as it drives through it all. The song is labyrinthine, so immersive, complex and twisting.
