The Magic Epic is a Brighton-based singer-songwriter, who hails from the suburbs of South London. His music career began in 2013, prior to which he was a hod carrier and busker. T.M.E has said that his years of busking allowed him to support his career by giving him the time to perfect his craft and overcome his performance anxiety. Citing influences like Otis Redding and John Lennon, The Magic Epic brings a wholesome vibe with his music.
Summer is such a brilliantly made track. It’s so homely, with upbeat and uplifting energy. The guitar work creates a wailing sound that works so beautifully in the mix. The drums are so dynamic, making the track move magnificently through the temporal sphere. The Magic Epic shows his expertise in his vocal work – with a gospel-like voice and harmonies. The whole track comes together to create a positive space for the listener. I find it really has a god-like effect on you when you listen to the track.
The Magic Epic sounds like the more wholesome version of Billy Joel if he had more elements to his music. The slide guitar just does magical things to the track, but the vocals create the Summer feeling. T.M.E does well to make a track about Summer by playing with the mood and emotions of his listeners – it’s almost as if he created a warm feeling by contrasting his atmosphere with moods.
