‘Soul’ by Starry Venus is an Immersive Electronica/Pop Exploration Rooted in Depth

Soul’ by Starry Venus is an immersive 6-track electronica/pop experience that takes its listener on an expansive journey. The song builds the artist top-down, with sounds rooting themselves in soulful discovery.

Each track feels full and sporadic, a full movement through life that feels undeniable and limitless all the same. The experiences are characterised rhythms, wind-instruments and strings, moving in dynamic harmony.

This in a ways that can feel limitless and expansive.

‘Soul’: Track-by-Track

‘Soul’: ‘Stars’ – ‘Million Years’

We begin with ‘Stars’, an immersive synth-led tune that feels equal parts sentimental and expansive. The instrumentation builds, slow and imperfect, almost visceral, layered on by deep, earthy vocals that feel like a connection so a feeling that’s close to bursting through.

Each element adds a new dimension to the sound, beginning to feed into this soulful experience that only builds.

‘Do You Feel It’ layered in anticipation, with ambient sounds that feel as though they scratch and dig at you. The soundscape becomes even more visceral on this track, pulling the listener in with tone, ambience and seemingly direct question.

“…Do you feel all that…?”

‘Million Years’ is a guitar and rhythm-led tune that feels wholly visceral. The soundscape and lyrics create an explicit link to grounding nature, with a wholesome fullness that helps ground us throughout.

“…It only took me a million years to find myself standing here with you…”.

‘Soul’: ‘Isis’ – ‘This Moment’

‘Isis’ builds on the momentum of the last song, elevating the soundscape’s mood and ambience towards something greater. Something more elevated. The melodies here pull at your attention, while percussion marches forth. This expansive build only seems to build towards one goal.

“…Take me to the garden…”. Limitless.

This line directly takes us into the deep, grounded musings of ‘Flowers in the Sky’, a song that seems to hold a calm, soothing breath. “…I am free if you want me to be….”, an urging that only seems to grow in subtle intensity as the song progresses.

“…Rising up like a flower in the sky…”.

The final track on the album, ‘This Moment’ feels like it melds the moods and tones of each track that preceded it, building it all into a cohesive whole. The soundscape feels as though it’s rushing towards something, with each element building towards this visceral sense of togetherness.

Conclusion

‘Soul’ by Starry Venus as a whole has been building towards seemingly giving us a sense of the narrator themselves. Someone that feels almost like a formless entity given shape. It’s difficult to pin down your experience of the album because every experience yields something new and whole.
