‘Solo’ by Noam Frank is a slow RnB track that uses its melancholy tone to deliberate on love and all the confusing, swirling emotions it stirs up. The song’s calm, cascading guitars and slow percussion keep the pace of the song consistent yet engaging while the singer’s powerful vocal delivery exudes fire-y and sensual passion.
The track’s lyrics take their time, describing moments of deep and intimate connection that are meant pose as salvos that dig at reasons to love. A romantic connection of any kind is justified because it means we/our narrator doesn’t have to be alone.

‘Solo’: Voicing Confusion in Love
‘Solo’ attempts to stir up swirling emotions, that answering silent questions in its lyrics. It tries to offer reassurance in the face of the swirl all while trying to answer and justify the reason for staying in love in the first place. Even the opening lines begin with a challenge, openly asking for justification to keep going.
“Reach for the stars and bring them down for me,
If you think that we could be something that could last…”.
These lines are a challenge that immediately sets itself up to do an impossible task. But the rest of the song still attempts to reassure all the same.
There’s a calm sense of melancholy in ‘Solo’, that feels resolute but slightly pessimistic. It attempts to reassure with its verses but there’s some sense of rejection in the lines too. A sense of slow desperation, confusion, doubt and almost resignation that is especially apparent in the song’s refrain.
“If its love then you’ve got to choose it everyday…
…If its really love then, it isn’t fate.
You’ve got to earn it….”.
The second half of this refrain acknowledges some sense of performativity in the face of this whirling emotions. They feel more sober, voicing what feels like some sort of unspoken truth when it comes to love.
“…In the end we’re just part of a show.
There’s no way…we could know,
How it ends, how this is gonna flow.
I just know I don’t wanna go solo…”.
‘Solo’ by Noam Frank takes its listener on an expansive journey, attempting solidify emotions that seem nebulous and almost irreconcilable. Its slow rhythm and melodies feel engaging, seemingly aiming to drive the song’s words home, allowing them the space to shine and be engaged with.
