When I started writing music reviews, Rich Chambers was one of the first artists I was introduced to. From his panache to the energy he brings to his songs, it doesn’t take more than a few seconds to see why his music lives on such a groove. So many decades of experience and love for retro music show through his compositions. His latest single is a poignant, relevant single that stands out now when noise has taken over the world. This one is called All I Want is Hope and Nothing More.
Like a Bryan Adams song, the percussion and guitar tone are what lead us into the energising intro. A lovely chord progression with instrumental layers comes together with the verse section. Rich Chambers brings painful lyrics that talk about the state of the world, reflected through a much more personal lens. The tempo remains upbeat, and the rhythm is on cruise control, but the lyrics will affect you personally.
Rather than add complicated layers, Rich Chambers gives us the verse section as memorable as it can be. It repeats with a loop that makes the lyrics have that much more of an effect on our psyches. I enjoyed how the song drives in with the same energy and tempo and almost gives the message Rich is carrying a deeper purpose. From Snow Miser vs. Heat Miser to fantastic covers, this has been one musician that has learnt to give a significant push to rock that will continue to inspire generations more.
The incredible songwriter from Vancouver, Canada, is going to continue writing songs that mean and feel things for a long time to come. As an indie musician, it is thrilling to see the kind of impact he is going to leave on others that want the same thing as him – to come together with music for humanity:
