Bloodlin3 is an independent music group bridging the sounds of El Paso, TX, and Paducah, KY, with influences ranging from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to Eminem. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Three 6 Mafia, Tech N9ne, Twista, and Brotha Lynch, this dynamic collective brings a unique blend of rap and hip-hop to the table– and “No Mercy”, can only be likened as an achievement few artists get- to collaborate with somebody they cite as strong inspiration. Keep reading for my thoughts!
The featured artist on the track, Twista, is somebody that needs no introduction- with the fire that he dishes out in his rhymes, he retains a reputation as one of the fastest, the most meticulous rappers in the game– and on “No Mercy”, he announces his arrival through his rhymes from bar one- with his signature complex multiline flows that dance upon the triplet, all while entendre after entendre flows past. The energy in the rapping throughout “No Mercy” is excellently well-controlled, too, and has a cohesive, polished sound that grabs your attention, and strives hard to keep it.

The hooks are written well, too, and are placed perfectly– enter verse two, and you’re dealing with a straighter, yet still just as layered and elegant a flow- and this could be said for the whole of the vocal presentation. The production retains this dark energy throughout the song with the synth pads down low, coupled with the cheerful, lo-fi piano loops that yield a nice overtone to the energy of the song, while the percussion keeps things moving like absolute clockwork.

The mix and master is tight, and in signature hip-hop fashion, keeps the track grounded and the vocals front and centre, allowing the rappers to shine through with their lyrical wit and ability. All in all, “No Mercy” by Bloodlin3 and Twista represents a great, rewarding listen that you’ll keep going back to. Check out the track here!
