‘Dissolution’ by Mikhail Daken is an Alternative Indie-Pop Tapestry of Moving, Dynamic Sound

Dissolution’ by Mikhail Daken is a dream-like alternative indie-pop track that takes its listener on an immersive journey through mood and sound. Interesting percussion sounds meld with expansive guitars to create a soundscape that feels all-encompassing and moving.

This with lyrics that fold in this weighty gravitas allow the song’s tone to expand and almost swallow the listener whole into that dream-like landscape.

‘Dissolution’: Dynamic Tapestry of Sound

‘Dissolution’ opens with distant guitars that slowly introduce the song’s mood with slow melodies and vocal. This before the percussion seems to drop in from above, with this interesting texture that immediately hooks the listener in, seemingly locking them in place.

The song then continues to build, with subtle moving parts that begin to start pulling the listener down. It feels like you’re sinking into the soundscape’s quick-sand, slowly, as though the rhythms and distant instrumentation seems to beckon.

‘Dissolution’ feels like an ode to someone dear, or a prayer to someone higher (or both), with lyrics that allude to this almost obsessive search. A search that seems to lead our narrator to somewhere barren. Somewhere where “…nothing remains in this cursed place…”.

The only thing keeping our narrator grounded is this entity’s voice. “…‘Cause anything in your voice sounds like an answer…”.

‘Dissolution’ by Mikhail Daken is equal parts an anthemic pop-rock tune as well as well as a moody percussion-led track. Its expansive soundscape curates an experience that feels built and lived-in by the song’s end. It constantly shifting, showing the listener its different colours like a tapestry would when parts of it catch the sunlight.

All this makes the song a captivating, moving listen.

The Music Video

‘Dissolution’ continues the chronicle of ‘The Fabled Dissolution of He Who Ate Time, of He Who Once Was’. We follow our lone wanderer as they slowly emerge from a realm purged in fire, the music really serving as a sort of call to the surface.

The visuals capture this phantom almost being willed to existence by the sound, with images moving from crackling shades of orange, to bright moss-green, greys before finally allowing blues to take over.

Our lone wanderer moves into a new realm while their dream-like anthemic urges them on. All of this movement compliments the song’s tapestry of sound, while melding the narratives in both seamlessly.
