‘The Foundation’ by Larando Suave is an alternative hip-hop album that feels like a deep, vibe-y dive into chill, synth-led soundscape. Interesting melodies meet lyrics that make observations, keeping the listener engaged throughout.
The synths and percussion build in intensity as the track list moves along, sinking deeper with each track. It feels like a journey that’s sonically introspective.

‘The Foundation’: Track-by-Track
‘The Foundation’: ‘Flower Buddha’- ‘Bump This in the Whip’
‘Flower Buddha’ introduces us to the overall rhythm and tone of the album, with its synths and calm flow. Its lyrics feel like they set the intention of this collection, with this feeling of focus, calm and a bit of surrender. This soundscape is expansive with a subtle build. This before it introduces sharp chime-like percussion rhythms that create this sense of variation that carries us into the next song.
‘Foundation’ feels as though it was built over a rewind loop, retaining the expansive sense of the last song. Its lyrics seem to focus on this almost detached, escapsist mood. In the face of a world that feels overwhelming our narrator mainly just “…blaze(s) up…”. This sense of escapism pairs well with the expansive soundscape over which it is layed.
‘I ❤️Lucy’ finds our narrator vibrating tremulously, harmonising with vocoder melodies while focusing on what seems like the material. The song soon begins to intensify this sense of disparate isolation, highlighting separate musical elements that feel almost thrown together to create a mood.
‘Lost in NYC’ with AKTHESAVIOR keeps this disparate, tremulous mood, stretching and snapping in place when needed. It’s lyrics feel kinetic and dynamic, falling off while keeping pace with this frantic sense of thinly veiled panic that seems to radiate through the song. Tremulous, sharp and all over the place.
‘Bump This in the Whip’ with MattyjTX introduces the first instance of the album’s deep, synth-led melodies. It samples from eclectic sources to create this sense of deep immersion, allowing for many different types of emotion to come forth. Here, the sounds that populate the soundscape feel thrown together in a way that works.

‘The Foundation’: ‘Gems on Me’- ‘Gems on Me- Remix’
‘Gems on Me’ feels a bit slower with its percussion-led rhythms that switch up as the mood of the lyrics do. Sampled, chopped-up vocals pan through the track, while piano and bass-like synths take on a sharp, close to vulnerable edge towards its end. “…I’m so tired of what I’ve waited on…”.
‘Alkaline Water’ brings in this reggae rhythm with deeper beats, with synths that seem to bounce from one end to another. The narrator seems to be making observations about the situation they find themselves in, in these lyrics.
‘Spooky’ feels like the darkest song on the album, soundscape-wise. The lyrics describe a relationship on the fritz. This while the deep rhythms create this darker atmosphere that feels like it takes us into the headspace of the narrator. “…We disagree a lot, it’s therapeutic…”.
‘Kush Mints’ is another track that allows insightful observations to characterise the sound and mood of the song. Its rhythms are calm and cool, giving us a moment to breathe after the depths we reached in ‘Spooky’. The track is also characterised by pianos and synths.
‘Lil Whoop’ with J-KASH uses syncopated synth melodies that feel like they’re taken from a club-banger and layers this beat over with a flow that feels dark. The soundscape jerks and grooves, creating a deep vibe that feels brain-numbing and slow. Its immersiveness seems to swim in its low-end.
‘New Zen’ is a chill but deep track that samples gaming sounds with a muffled percussion and synth-led build. Observations and insight characterise this song’s flow, with an interesting melody that keeps the listener full and engaged.
The soundscape seamlessly transitions into ‘Gems on Me- Remix’ with Shirt, who adds more to the song’s message with his verse.
Conclusion
‘The Foundation’ by Larando Suave expands its soundscapewith interesting melodies and rhythms, while feeling like a cohesive collection of tracks.
Engaging and immersive.
