Jacob Chacko has been pushing out music in the pop rock space since returning to music a few years ago. The New Milford, New Jersey-based musician has a knack for mixing familiar styles like rock, blues, gospel, and country. His latest track, “Control My Pride,” from his third album ‘Give Me The Good Stuff‘, keeps that momentum going with style and heart.

The song starts off tight and confident, with drums, some synth electronic textures, and a bass line that leads from the front. That bass is hard to miss, it drives the whole thing with purpose. When Jacob Chacko’s vocals glide easily into the mix, setting up a smooth groove that feels both soulful and punchy. The chorus opens up with Talya Gelfand’s backing vocals, adding a touch of warmth that fits perfectly. Chacko ruminates on themes of self-reflection, struggle with ego and honesty, and the desire for guidance to overcome pride. The funky touches here, and prominent bass is something I liked.
There’s a lot happening, but it never feels crowded. The arrangement is playful, with clever guitar parts and vocal harmonies that reward repeat listens. The chemistry between Chacko and his team is clear. Thomas Monaco whos is co vocal producer, Les Lovell’s engineering, and Mike Dawson’s drumming all add up to a rich, lived-in sound.
“Control My Pride” is catchy, confident, and full of character. Jacob Chacko sounds like an artist fully in tune with his own rhythm, and it shows.
